Geography : Advanced Remote Sensing Techniques Fall Term 2011
Literature review

Overview All students registered in Geography 371 are required to complete a literature review on an approved topic of their choice. This permits you to study in greater detail a specific application of remote sensing that is of interest to you. By writing the review, it strengthens your ability to read and synthesize research material and formulate an informed opinion on a specific remote-sensing topic.代写英国留学论文

Abstract
Prepare a 200-word abstract summarizing your literature review topic. The abstract should include a title for your review, an introduction to your topic, what you will discuss in your review and the major conclusions that you expect to reach.

Literature Review
Although not a primary scientific document, your literature review should take the style of a scientific journal paper.
This will include an introductory section, a brief discussion of the significance of the topic, a review of the method(s) employed by researchers to address your topic, the general findings of these authors, a discussion containing your critique of these method(s) as they apply to the topic you have chosen, including comments on errors or uncertainties in the results obtained, and finally some concluding remarks on this topic.代写英国留学论文
You should note that a literature review is a synthesis of what has been written with respect to a specific topic. When writing your literature review, you should avoid presenting a series of paragraphs on what each person or group has said or done with regard to the topic. In your reading, you should look for commonalties between the authors and build your review around these commonalities. For example, some of the commonalities might relate to the different types of data
and/or the methods of data analysis that have been used to address the topic. What are the agreements and what are the differences in what the authors conclude? Make sure you attribute all ideas to the relevant authors and remember, any plagiarism will result in a zero grade being awarded.
A review paper may include some references from sources such as introductory textbooks; however, the bulk of your reference material (7 or 8 sources) should be obtained from refereed journal article sources. However, it is essential to the success of your review that you demonstrate a command and in-depth knowledge of the topic. Textbooks can be a great help for breadth, while journal articles will reveal depth. Wikipedia or other ‘community’ sources are not allowed.
Summarize your key findings in a conclusions section at the end of the paper.代写英国留学论文

References
You must include a reference section that itemizes your sources and is styled according to an authorized form; use the style of one of the journals of your chosen journals when putting the references section together. RefWorks software on the library web pages is an excellent tool for managing references .Or use Mendeley software www.uiessays.com to organize your digital library.

All of the above internationally-refereed journals are available online through the UW library and more. Having decided
on a topic, you should use the Web of Science search engine (see UW library Resources for Researchers) to locate
journal articles that may be of interest including others not identified above. From the identified articles, you should be
selective in what you choose – some articles will be of more use than others; read the abstracts carefully!
Approved Topics for Term Paper
One of the following topics can be chosen for the paper. You are expected to analyse the usefulness of remote sensing in
one of these topics. You may refine the application topic within each of these fields:代写英国留学论文
